This is our second deisel heater, soon to be installed into our 1997 Winnebago Brave RV renovation project.
Our goal is to “winterize the RV” so that we can travel around New England, and go snowmobiling or just for hanging out while boondocking somewhere cool without the water freezing, without using up all our propane, and to simply be nice and cozy warm!
If you’ve been following our Facebook page you’ll know that we installed a smaller unit initially about a month ago and that enabled us to comfortably boondock for three nights, actually away from home, during a recent winter storm!
The intention with installing this unit is to see if both units together make it so that we don’t have to use the propane (at all) for heat. The reason we wanted to give this a try initially is because our propane tank is not a replaceable propane tank and therefore when it’s empty we have to not only drive the RV somewhere, which then uses up our gas but we also have to locate an LP gas vendor in order to have it filled up. When you run the furnace, along with the refrigerator and the water heater, it doesn’t take long to use up a tank of propane!
Diesel allows us to fill up pretty much anywhere and we have two 5 gallon gas cans (in an outside compartment) that we can take with us to extend our excursion opportunities!
David’s says “Bring on the snow! I want to go snowmobiling!!” I’m happy when he’s happy…😉😁😎🌎❣️
